Viewpoint Gallery Opening

In the photo of the Wild Horses I loved how the spring light shone on the horses’ manes.

Plus the shadows on the grass and the light outlining the branches created an ethereal scene that I wanted to keep.

From September 4 – 28 the Silver Threads 25th Anniversary Exhibit will be shown at Viewpoint Gallery in Halifax featuring work from gallery alumni and current members. The opening is on September 4th from 6 – 8 pm.

I’m an alumni of the gallery and my image Wild Horses will be on display. I took the photograph in the dune landscape of the Netherlands earlier this year.

Finding images has been a lifelong passion. At age nine I received my first camera and in my twenties I studied photography at NSCAD University.

The word photography was invented in 1839 by Sir John Herschel and is derived from  the Greek φῶς (phōs) for light, and γραφη (graphê) for writing.

Writing with light is of course a wonderful activity for a poet. My photographs often serve as my notebook for my poems. Poems often begin with a specific image in mind.

(Update: the photograph sold on the opening night, but will be on view until September 28th).
